Privacy Policy
Contos is a daily Brazilian Portuguese reading app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we don't run ads or analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account. On first launch we create an anonymous account. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide it).
- Learning progress. Your vocabulary list, placement level, daily stories and ratings, flashcards, streak, reading time and interests — this is the product; it syncs to your account so it can follow you between devices.
- Subscription status. Apple processes payment; we receive transaction identifiers and renewal status so we can unlock Premium. We never see your payment details.
How stories are generated
Daily stories are written by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) on our server. The generation request includes your reading level, interests and vocabulary — never your name, email or any account identifier.
Where it lives
Your data is stored in our database (hosted on Supabase), protected by row-level security so only your signed-in account can read it. We keep it for as long as you have an account.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no third-party analytics.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties beyond the service providers above (Apple, Supabase, Anthropic) acting on our instructions.
Deleting your data
Account → Delete account inside the app permanently and immediately erases your account and everything in it. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account. Note that an active subscription must be cancelled separately in your device Settings — Apple manages billing, not us.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correction, or deletion at any time by emailing us. If you're in the UK/EEA, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Contos is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the date above.
